When Ole Miss took a quick 7-0 lead against Alabama on Saturday night, fans were feeling ecstatic and optimistic.

That feeling was quickly squashed, though, as the Crimson Tide rattled off 62 unanswered points in a 62-7 victory.

Now, the Rebels must regroup on both sides of the ball and find a way to get back on track against Kent State on Saturday. During his Monday press conference, coach Matt Luke said he is confident his team will be able to move forward from the tough loss (via OleMissSports.com):

“These kids will fight back,” he said. “It’s good to be around them on Sunday. We watched the tape, put it behind us and moved forward. Now the focus is on Kent State and going to find a way to win that game.”

On defense, Luke said the key to improvement will be communication and execution. He said the coaches need to do a better job of putting the players in position to succeed:

“You have to be able to communicate and do your job,” he said. “That’s a big part of it. It all falls back to coaches. When you go on the field, you have to be able to execute it. That’s our job. That’s my job as a head coach to make sure that happens. If you have to simplify, then you have to simplify, but when they walk out there, they have to know what’s going on.”

Saturday’s game against Kent State kicks off at noon Eastern time and can be seen on the SEC Network.
