If we’re to believe the “experts,” Laremy Tunsil is a shoo-in to be taken by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Thanks to the good folks over at WalterFootball.com, we can go all “Nate Silver” on the website’s comprehensive list of every mock draft they can find in the catacombs of the internet. Tunsil appears on 140 of the 157 mock drafts that Walter Football monitors daily; the other 17 being mostly early 2017 mocks.

But not everyone agrees that the Ole Miss left tackle is first-pick worthy, and there are some notable dissenters.

Here’s a breakdown of where Tunsil lands across the nation according to the mocks.

No. 1 TO TENNESSEE TITANS

Tennessee can go a long way toward shoring up the foundation of its offense for years to come, while providing the protection that second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota sorely needs. And the prognosticators all seem to agree. Of the 140 mock drafts, Tunsil is listed as the No. 1 pick on 108 of them. Secretly rooting the most against Tunsil might be Taylor Lewan, the Titans’ incumbent left tackle, who is two years removed from Michigan.

Notable Mocks: Bleacher Report, CBS Sports, FOX Sports, Sports Illustrated, USA Today

No. 2 TO CLEVELAND BROWNS

The general consensus is that Tunsil will not being heading north to Cleveland. Which could be a blessing for him. The Browns’ left tackle slot is occupied by Joe Thomas, who is just about the best thing Cleveland has on offense. Only five mock drafts have Tunsil going at No. 2 to the Rock and Roll Capital of the World. Still, this is the Browns and you never know, especially with Sonny Weaver Jr.* running the show on Draft day.

Editor’s Note: Sonny Weaver Jr. is not the Cleveland GM. Just a Browns legend.

No. 3 TO SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

San Diego appears to be the lucky beneficiary, should Tunsil slip past Tennessee and Cleveland with the first two picks. It gets complicated a bit in San Diego, however, courtesy of current Charger left tackle King Dunlap. The Auburn veteran — and No. 230 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft (Philadelphia Eagles) — has three years remaining on the four-year, $28 million deal he signed last February. Of course, linemen can be interchangeable, and if a guy who could have been the No. 1 pick is still there are No. 3, the Chargers would be wise to pounce on Tunsil.

Notable Mocks: ESPN’s Mel Kiper, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah

No. 4 TO DALLAS COWBOYS

Seeing that the Dallas Cowboys already have Tyron Smith — the second-best left tackle in the NFL behind Joe Thomas, according to Pro Football Focus — it doesn’t appear Tunsil has a future in Big D. That’s evident by the paltry three mocks that have him sliding to the No. 4 slot.

No. 5 TO JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Jacksonville is also home to an SEC alum at left tackle, as Texas A&M’s Luke Joeckel isn’t going to give up the position that easy. Joeckel can empathize, at least. He was also once projected at No. 1, but wound up going at No. 2 in the 2013 draft to the Jaguars. As a result, just four mocks have Tunsil heading to Jacksonville.

But here’s where it gets interesting…

No. 7 TO DETROIT LIONS

ESPN’s Todd McShay thinks Tunsil will be banished to Detroit with the No. 7 overall pick. In McShay’s McMock, Ohio State’s Joey Bosa will land in Tennessee at No. 1 and the SEC’s first selection will be Ole Miss defensive end Robert Nkemdiche at No. 3 to the Chargers.

No. 11 TO CHICAGO BEARS

That is some fall for Tunsil. The most intriguing mock comes from the number crunchers over at Pro Football Focus, who are great at what they do. As far as their prognostications, that remains to be seen.

Tunsil would be a welcome addition for the Bears. So much so, that you’ll probably hear oft-sacked quarterback, and former Vanderbilt product, Jay Cutler cry out loudly in joy. Tunsil would be an upgrade in the Windy City over Charles Leno, who started 13 games during his second year in the league in 2015.
