The Ole Miss Rebels (8-2, 4-2) sat out last week on a bye, but following losses by Arizona State and Auburn in Week 12 Ole Miss rose two spots to No 8 in this week’s College Football Playoff Top 25.

The Rebels are now the highest-ranked two-loss team in the nation, a title that belonged to Auburn last week before the Tigers were dropped by Georgia between the hedges.

Ole Miss is one of six SEC teams ranked in this week’s CFP Top 25, including two SEC teams ranked in the top 4 spots that will go to the selection committee’s four playoff teams at season’s end. After topping Mississippi State last weekend, Alabama took over as the new No. 1 team in the poll, while Mississippi State fell only three spots to No. 4.

Oregon and Florida State join the Bulldogs and the Tide in this week’s top 4.

No. 10 Georgia, No. 14 Auburn and No. 20 Missouri were the other SEC teams included in this week’s rankings.
