Cornerback Jamar Richardson committed to Ole Miss on Monday. Scout.com reported the commitment first. Richardson’s coach, Rico Jackson, confirmed the defensive back’s decision to join the Rebels on Twitter.

The 6-foot, 167-pound participated in the Nike Regional camp in March and Ole Miss offered him a scholarship shortly after. The Rebels were the favorite to sign Richardson, who tweeted that his original plan was to announce his college decision after his fifth game.

“They offered me at the end of March after watching me play,” Richardson told Scout.com’s Yancy Porter in June. “Coach (Jason Jones) said I have real good speed and the size they were looking for to play defensive back They think they can make a good player out of me.”

The Aliceville, Alabama native is unranked for the 2017 class. Richardson also had offers from Missouri, Louisville and Wake Forest.

He currently isn’t rated by 247Sports Composite Rankings.
