Ole Miss gains QB pledge for 2017
The Rebels are making sure they have plenty of depth at quarterback for the post-Chad Kelly era.
Shawnee (Okla.) dual-threat quarterback Jack Diamond announced his plans Wednesday to walk on at Ole Miss for 2017, joining a signal-caller depth chart that will include Shea Patterson, Jason Pellerin and Alex Faniel.

“I just love the (Ole Miss) coaches and the people in Oxford,” Diamond told Rebels247. “I’m planning to walk-on there, but I am hoping for a scholarship. I am also hoping to graduate high school early and hopefully arrive at Ole Miss in January.”
Diamond, who currently measures 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, was drawn to Ole Miss after spending time with co-offensive coordinator Dan Werner. He also showed interest in Arkansas, Memphis, North Carolina and Oklahoma State.
The Rebels currently have 10 players committed to scholarship offers for 2017, including Faniel, a three-star pro-style prospect.
