Ole Miss has one of the most exciting and up-and-coming players in the SEC for 2017: QB Shea Patterson.

Following his spectacular performance against Texas A&M (338 passing yards and two touchdowns) — which reminded us somewhat of Johnny Manziel, everyone knew Patterson could be the next big thing at the QB position. His backyard-like style appeals to fans because of the exciting plays, and everyone is looking forward to that this season, minus SEC defensive coordinators.

Patterson has been on the West Coast this weekend for “The QB Retreat,” and he was asked the craziest atmosphere he played in last season.

“The craziest atmosphere was probably Kyle Field at Texas A&M,” Patterson said. “Not only was it my first collegiate game, just the atmosphere … I think they had like 103,000 people there. The jitters of the first game. Once I got that first play over with, though, it was fine.”

To be fair, Patterson only played at Kyle Field and Vanderbilt Stadium. The Rebels hosted Mississippi State for the Egg Bowl. So, he’ll get a taste of the road life this year when the Rebels travel to Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State within conference play.

Patterson ended up throwing for 880 yards and six touchdowns during his freshman season, but those numbers will go way up this year. He looked very good in the spring game, and he has a supporting cast at wide receiver that could be dangerous.

It’s not a stretch that Ole Miss with Patterson could have the SEC’s best passing attack in 2017.
