The Ole Miss Rebels had a talented backcourt in 2018-19, featuring guys like Breein Tyree, Terence Davis and Devontae Shuler. However, the team had some problems with depth in the post.

Incoming 2019 big man Rodney Howard, a 3-star recruit out of South Carolina, was supposed to help with that. Now, though, he’s apparently not going to be in Oxford this fall.

Per a tweet from college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Howard decommitted from the program on Wednesday:

Howard had already signed his letter of intent with the Rebels, but it seems he and the school mutually agreed to part ways.

Per the 247Sports composite, Howard is the No. 42 center in the class of 2019 and the No. 7 overall recruit from the state of South Carolina.

The Rebels now have five players in their 2019 class. Prior to Howard’s decommitment, the class ranked No. 42 in the country and No. 9 in the SEC, per 247Sports.
