Since his surprising resignation last Thursday, former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze has likely since found out who his true friends are. Sean Tuohy appears to be one of them.

Tuohy, a former Ole Miss basketball star, has had a relationship with Freeze dating back to their days at Briarcrest High School in Memphis. If you saw The Blind Side movie, you know all about their connection. If not, Tuohy’s family were the ones who took in Michael Oher. Oher would go on to star for Freeze at Briarcrest before the two moved on to Ole Miss together.

Despite the damning revelations that have come out against Freeze since last week, Tuohy has never wavered in his support of his old friend. Tuohy was recently interviewed by Geoff Calkins of the Memphis Commercial Appeal to discuss his thoughts on Freeze’s troubled end in Oxford.

“I’m never going to stop being his friend,” Tuohy said in the article. “I’m never going to stop loving him. When he needs me, I’ll be there.”

Tuohy went on to say his feelings have little to do with his love for Ole Miss or Freeze, as he shared his thoughts on Freeze as a person more so than a public figure.

“I don’t take any pleasure in other people’s misery. If this was happening to Dan Mullen I’d be no more interested in the personal stuff than I am right now,” Tuohy continued. “I don’t like bad things happening to anyone. I loved Hugh four weeks ago and I’ll love him four weeks from now.”

Adding some perspective to the whole ordeal, Tuohy will continue to show support for his old friend in his time of need.

“You just don’t give up on people and I’m not giving up on Hugh,” Tuohy concluded. “It’s not any fun for any of us. But feeling sorry for him is not what I’m going to do. It’s been a bad week. That doesn’t mean it has to be a bad life.”
