When Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze was looking for a new defensive coordinator this offseason, he said he was looking for someone who would bring “toughness” and “energy” to the team. Judging by a practice video shared on the Rebels’ Twitter account, new defensive coordinator Wesley McGriff was the perfect hire for Freeze.

The 2017 season will be McGriff’s first as a coordinator at the FBS level. He has experience as a co-coordinator and position coach, most recently at Auburn. Ole Miss will wrap up its spring practices with the Grove Bowl on April 8, an event the team did not hold last year due to stadium renovations.
