If you read any college football news before the Egg Bowl, you know it was all about how heated the game would likely be.

There were insane message board posts wishing injury on players and even a scuffle before the game.

All indications were that Ole Miss and Mississippi State were about to be in, essentially, a fight on the field.

But even with how heated things were on Thursday night in Starkville, Ole Miss players showed respect for Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald went down in the first quarter with what appeared to be a lower leg/ankle injury. When he was carted off the field, Rebels players and head coach Matt Luke were captured on the sideline clapping for Fitzgerald.

It’s always good to see sportsmanship on display.

Ole Miss held onto a 10-3 lead nearing halftime.
