This is always a tough one. I personally hate calling a player out because I have been through it. This weekend had some very good football and so many outstanding plays. However, there were also some boneheaded plays, and there is one in particular that I have to call out.

Brandon Allen played a pretty solid game against Mississippi State, but his last pass attempt is the boneheaded play of the week.

With the ball on Mississippi State’s 16-yard line, 22 seconds left and a timeout in coach Bret Bielema’s pocket, Allen threw a fade to his left. He placed the throw too far inside and short and it was picked off. Game over.

That ball has to be thrown to the back pylon and outside so that worst-case scenario is an incomplete pass. The Razorbacks have a 17-game conference losing streak now, but have been playing very good football. The boneheaded play, or throw, was ill advised and I’m sure Allen knows it.

Arkansas had one timeout left and could have thrown in the middle of the field or anywhere, really. He took a shot to the end zone and just made a bad throw. So for that reason, I have to give the boneheaded play of the week to Brandon Allen.

As the saying goes, “stuff” happens, but the Razorbacks are showing major pride and the program is definitely on the rise.
