Damiere Byrd has made a nice NFL career for himself, and now the former South Carolina wide receiver has landed with a new NFL team.

Byrd is signing with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Byrd played for the Chicago Bears last season, and previously played for the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals and for 3 years was with the Carolina Panthers.

Byrd has played in 61 games in his NFL career, with 24 starts, 117 catches, 1,421 yards and 5 touchdowns. His best season came with the Patriots 2 years ago when he made 14 starts and played in 16 games for 47 catches and 604 yards with a touchdown.

Between Calvin Ridley’s suspension, and Russell Gage signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Falcons needed some help at wide receiver.

Byrd has long been known as a speedy threat, and in his final season with the Gamecocks Byrd made 68 receptions for 1,265 yards with 10 touchdowns in 47 career games including 20 starts.
