It appeared that former South Carolina running back David Williams would be leaving the SEC to play at UConn, but he has announced that he will stay in the conference after all.

After announcing his intentions to transfer from South Carolina in January, Williams tweeted that he would be joining the Huskies. On Friday, however, the former Gamecocks announced his commitment to Arkansas, meaning his move will only be from the SEC East to the West.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound back is a graduate transfer and will be able to play immediately for the Razorbacks, who were left in a bit of a pinch after Rawleigh Williams III, one of the top running backs in the SEC, announced his decision to step away from the game.

Once a 4-star prospect, Williams never became the player many hoped he could be at South Carolina. In his career with the Gamecocks, Williams carried the ball 188 times for 794 yards and five touchdowns.

He will now have the opportunity to make a name for himself with the Razorbacks.
