Justin Coleman sure knows how to talk up an opponent.

Just days before his team’s matchup Saturday against Arkansas State, the Tennessee cornerback reflected on Arkansas State’s uptempo offense. When asked how Arkansas State’s offensive pace compares to the reigning SEC champion Auburn, Coleman had this to say:

“I feel like it’s a little bit faster,” Coleman said. “Everything they do is a faster pace. They’ll try their best to gas us up.”

“You can definitely tell that they try to get through the play and line up as fast as possible just to try and get anxiety into you and see if you will mess up.”

Coleman further emphasized on the matchup, praising the speed of the Arkansas State’s skill players and quarterback Fredi Knighton.

“It’s going to be our fast vs. their fast,” Coleman said. “They’re going to come out and use their speed to dominate. [Knighton] is someone we just can’t let get out of the pocket. When he runs, I can see that he’s devastating and can do some damage to a defense.”

Coleman started in Tennessee’s season opening 38-7 win and played at both cornerback and nickel. Making the transition has been an easy process for the senior, but he does see a difference in both positions.

“It’s not that much of a change,” Coleman said. “You need to have a different mindset at corner because you have the safety behind you to help. At nickel, you’re going to have to play more run defense, where as corner, you’re on an island.
