Mitchell or Myles. Myles or Mitchell.

The biggest drama of the NFL Draft was answered quickly Thursday night when the Cleveland Browns selected former Texas A&M star Myles Garrett No. 1 overall, ahead of homegrown quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Garrett became the 19th SEC player selected No. 1 overall and first since Jadeveon Clowney in 2014.

It’s the seventh consecutive year the Aggies have produced at least one first-round pick. Garrett became A&M’s seventh first-rounder since joining the SEC in 2012.

He’s the highest-drafted Aggie and ninth to be taken in the top 5 of a draft. Von Miller and Luke Joeckel were taken No. 2 overall in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Garrett’s selection made sense as NFL defenses continue to place a premium on premier pass rushers.

Few if any were better in college than Garrett, a mix of power and athleticism wrapped into a 6-4, 272-pound frame.

He had 31.5 sacks in his three-year career, second-most in the SEC during that stretch.

He battled injuries and schemes built to stay away from him in 2016, finishing with just 8.5 sacks. That led to some criticism, most notably and recently from Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp, who told reporters Garrett didn’t play like a potential No. 1 pick.

Cleveland obviously felt otherwise.
