Tra Carson is back on the free agent market.

This news comes after the Detroit Lions announced the release of the veteran running back following last weekend’s 2020 NFL Draft.

While the Lions did not mention this in their release of Carson, the team did draft Georgia running back D’Andre Swift during the Second Round of the league’s annual selection process and New Mexico State running back Jason Huntley in the Fifth Round.

The decision to draft those runners likely played a part in the team’s decision to release the veteran runner.

Carson rushed only 12 times for 34 yards during his time with the Lions. Carson has also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers during his brief NFL career.

During his time in College Station, Carson rushed for 2,075 yards and 19 touchdowns after appearing in 36 games in three seasons.
