Four-star DT makes it official–he’s down to 2, LSU is one of them

The uncertainty in the Miami coaching situation led Travonte Valentine to step back a little from his Hurricanes visit recently and look around a little bit. Coach Al Golden had been mentioned as a possible replacement at Penn State, but since then Golden has insisted he is staying put.

Still, Valentine wants to look around. He will trek to LSU on Jan. 24 and then will give Miami one more shot on Jan. 31. He is a south Florida product out of Hialeah–a suburb of Miami–so the Hurricanes probably still have a shot to get him back. But right now, he has been quoted saying some nice things about LSU. He said he’ll announce his final decision on National Signing Day.

He’s experienced in stepping back, as he was once a Florida commitment. He dropped that in February 2013, early in the process.  He is rated the No. 115 prospect in America, overall, and the No. 8 defensive tackle.

And hey, LSU fans–his middle name on his Facebook page is “Filthy Animal”, if that gives any indication of what kind of player he is.
