Four-star QB Francois zeros in on three schools now, Auburn being one

There aren’t too many four-star quarterbacks left out there, and that has made Deondre Francois’ stock rise considerably in the last few weeks. He is a wanted man, for sure.

Among national quarterback prospects, Francois is the third-best QB still available.

Late Tuesday, he confirmed with numerous media outlets that his top five has now been whittled to a top three–and this follows his unofficial trip to Auburn. Auburn, Oregon and Florida State make the cut, and Ohio State and Tennessee are now completely out of the picture. Recent overtures from Notre Dame also weren’t enough to make him seriously consider the Fighting Irish. Francois is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound QB with good mobility. He is rated the No. 6 dual-threat QB in the nation and the No. 153 prospect overall. He is from Orlando (Fla.), but will play his final year of prep football at the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton (Fla.).

Francois isn’t the only 2015 stud quarterback seriously considering the Tigers. Five-star ATH/QB Torrance Gibson also recently told Saturday Down South that Auburn is “1A” to Tennessee’s “1B”. Both SEC schools need to take at least one more quarterback because of depth reasons, but both do have QBs in their 2015 class already.

No exact timetable has been set for Francois’ announcement, but he has said before that he’d like to be done by late July.

Editor’s note: Saturday Down South’s references to recruiting rankings are to industry composite ranking.
