Deondre Francois just received an invitation to The Opening at NIKE headquarters in Oregon in July–and that sparked an idea …
The four-star quarterback will make his college announcement at the prestigious camp, which begins right after Independence Day. He also has a top five, which includes his native Florida, along with Auburn and Tennessee. He also is considering Florida State and Ohio State, and Francois plans to see all five programs at least one more time before the final decision.
The quarterback commitment craziness is starting to heat up. On Monday, four-star QB and California native Jake Browning–who Alabama had begun making overtures to–picked Washington. Also off the national board now are elite QBs like Josh Rosen, Blake Barnett, Jarrett Stidham, Ty Storey, Tyler Queen and Ricky Town. This will continue in the coming weeks and will likely magnify Francois’ decision–especially if he resists the temptation to speed up the decision and actually makes it to July (he’ll be challenged on this, trust me–the coaching staffs will likely want an earlier decision).
No doubt, Tennessee and Auburn specifically would like to see what five-star QB Torrance Gibson does first … so they’ll likely be very patient until then, but Francois is up high, too.
