Four-star QB Lock to make things official tonight

UPDATED: Drew Lock committed to Mizzou tonight.

The quarterback carousel of recruiting continues tonight, as Drew Lock will put an end to his version. He’ll make the announcement at 8 p.m. ET at a restaurant in his hometown of Lee’s Summit (Mo.).

The four-star prospect is the son of a former Mizzou player, so one would think the Tigers have the best shot at landing him tonight, but Ole Miss and Tennessee are also in the mix. Ohio State also has offered a scholarship and Texas came out of nowhere on Monday and offered. For the Longhorns, it may be too little too late, even though that could have been a powerful option if it had come a few months ago.

One key fact is Lock would like to play basketball too, and Mizzou has indicated that is possible with the Tigers.

“I absolutely loved the process of recruiting, I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Lock told Saturday Down South earlier this week. “I’m extremely blessed to be able to go through this process as well, and yet at the same time extremely excited and happy to be deciding where I will be attending school next year.”

Just Tuesday, the Tigers landed four-star RB Natereace Strong.

  • I didn’t know that Frank Haith had opened the door to Lock. This could be a win win situation for both. My feeling is that Haith is chasing some lost basketball spirits all over the nation when he could be winning more with some Missouri talent. I can’t say i agree with playing time given to the big recruit out of St. Louis because of his lack of foot speed on defense but that doesn’t mean there won’t be an Anthony Peeler coming out of Missouri somewhere every year. Maybe Lock is one?
