Derrell Scott is all set with an announcement date, and Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida will be hanging on every word.
Write it down, SEC East fans, one of the top remaining SEC targets will announce his final decision on Jan. 27.
He already visited Tennessee and South Carolina back in the fall. With the departure of former commitment Dalvin Cook during all-star week, Florida was back hunting for a running back and entered the picture with Scott, but then the Gators got Brandon Powell–who is talented enough to play RB or several other positions. So, Scott’s trip to Gainesville this weekend might really just be all for show, and if he cancelled it before this weekend, it wouldn’t be a surprise. But who knows? The way the Gators’ class has developed over the past couple of weeks, anything could happen.
For a long time, South Carolina seemed like the clear leader for this shifty back–who is rated the No. 119 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 all-purpose back. Now, Tennessee has entered the hunt, and Florida is probably considered a distant third. Scott has eliminated N.C. State, his home-state school. He is from Havelock (N.C.).
