Good recruiting news won’t stop coming for Mizzou

Terry Beckner has a nice group of top schools chasing him, and he really didn’t show his hand a lot–at least not until today.

Beckner’s head football coach told the Tigers could be considered an early leader in the mix for the five-star defensive lineman. LSU, USC and Ohio State are just a couple of other schools chasing him down. His coach, Darren Sunkett of East St. Louis (Ill.), also said he thinks Beckner (6-4/295) wants to play in the SEC. And of course, East St. Louis is closest to Mizzou.

Mizzou received a commitment from Beckner’s prep teammate and four-star RB Natereace Strong on Tuesday and another Wednesday night when four-star QB Drew Lock made it official. The good recruiting news keeps pouring in for a program that isn’t used to getting this much pub for elite national talent–all in the same week.

Beckner was on Mizzou’s campus for an unofficial visit this week, witnessing Strong’s commitment to the coaching staff. Strong and Beckner have expressed interest in possibly playing together at the next level.

  • I want to see the St. Louis Post Dispatch and some other media in St. Louis eat crow every day. This is the newspaper that tried to sell stories in St. Louis claiming that there was some unproven mojo between the city and Mizzou. D.M. are you reading this?

    • Funny what winning in the nation’s top conference will do, eh?

      • Bull’s Eye. And of course they forgot about a long and even recent history of high profile St. Louis young men like TJMoe. Unrealistic is the expectation that a city of 2 million should have lots of starters in a program that recruits nationwide is rarely going to happen. My favorite story is Brookfield, Missouri population 4,900 (rural county) that, at one point, had more starters at Missouri (three linemen), than any other city plus metro area in the nation.

  • Beckner should further chisel in Rock M the institution of DE at Missouri. Welcome to the ZOU
