Five-star DB Humphrey follows in dad’s footsteps, picks ‘Bama

Marlon Humphrey didn’t need all of those last-second visits after all.

The five-star defensive back took to Twitter Wednesday and decided he wouldn’t wait until February to make his college decision known, making it official to Alabama. Pretty much the whole recruiting world expected this decision anyway, as his father Bobby Humphrey starred for the ‘Tide back in the 1980s, but Humphrey insisted he was still evaluating schools. He took visits to Florida State and Mississippi State, along with Alabama, and a trip to UCLA was planned for this weekend.

“Thanks for everyone that has supported me this far I’m happy to say I am committed to the University of Alabama!! #RollTide,” Humphrey Tweeted shortly after noon.

Humphrey is also a top-flight athlete in track and field, and he was swayed by fellow Bama DB commitment Tony Brown–who also is an elite track athlete.

"Thank you for making it so easy to keep up with my team.
You provide SEC fans with an amazing, free service!"

I know, I know, he flirted with other schools. But, did anyone really believe he’d go anywhere but Bama?
