The SEC is batting .700 with one big-time target.
Tennessee native Kyle Phillips had a list of 20-plus schools after him–until a few days ago. Now, it’s down to 10, and seven of them reside in the SEC. His homestate school, Tennessee, along with Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, LSU, Georgia and Florida all made the cut, he told 247Sports.com the other day. He praised the environment around the program in Knoxville, and had great things to say about the other six schools as well. He said he’d like his final decision to come during or shortly after his senior season. He is rated the No. 115 overall prospect in America.
Phillips is a 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive end out of Nashville (Tenn.), and is known for his quick step and of course, his good size. This year alone, he has taken unofficial visits to Ole Miss, Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama. It is worthy of mention that he has been to Tennessee several times, but of course it is the closest.
