This was an efficient commitment. Textbook, even. No games.
Christian Bell was on Alabama’s campus at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He was in Nick Saban’s office. The ‘Tide’s head coach was hoping for a commitment right then and there for the Birmingham native … and he got it. Everybody was agreeable, everybody was on board.
“Coach Saban just started grinning after that,” Bell told AL.com. “He just smiled this wide smile. I think he smiled for something like 20 seconds.”
Bell was offered by Alabama on Feb. 1. He’s a 6-foot-4, 220-pound three-star defensive end out of storied Hoover H.S. It was hard to envision him going anywhere other than Alabama after that offer, but he was also seriously considering Mississippi State. Bell is the 15th commitment of the 2015 class, and the program is still No. 1.
