Kahlil McKenzie lives in Concord (Calif.) and has offers from Southern Cal, UCLA and Oregon.
But with about a month to go before he makes his college announcement at NIKE’s camp ‘The Opening’ in Oregon, the five-star defensive tackle now says he is down to two schools–Tennessee and Arizona. And the Vols are considered the strong frontrunner. Up until now, Alabama and Florida were also considered serious finalists based on McKenzie’s May 22nd announcement list. Other schools like Oklahoma, Miami and Ohio State also had made that cut, but now it’s down to two, he tells 247Sports.com.
McKenzie is like a cannon ball on caffeine, wrecking the opposing backfield with his 6-foot-4, 310 pound frame. He is a very, very strong and would fit nicely into an SEC defense.
If McKenzie were to join Tennessee’s outstanding 2015 class, he would join Preston Williams to give the Vols two five-star prospects. Prior to Williams, the last five-star prospect to join with Tennessee in the composite ranking era was Da’Rick Rogers in 2010.
