Bret Bielema’s contacts in the midwest paid dividends Monday, as Arkansas landed one of the nation’s top juniors. Hjalte Froholdt, 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive tackle, is originally from Denmark, but he played his sophomore season of high school in Warren (Ohio) in 2012–when Bielema was still at Wisconsin.
He’s a unique pickup because he’s actually back in Denmark right now, and has maintained most of his contact with coaches through social media like Twitter and Facebook. His family plans to be back in the United States next year, and he will play his senior season. Prior to this announcement, he had whittled his list down to the Razorbacks, Florida State and Michigan, and Alabama and Ohio State had also been in the mix until November.
Froholdt is a national top 100 junior player, according to 247Sports.com.
