Dontavius Russell–once one of Georgia’s top commitments–made it official Friday night: He will play for Auburn next year.
“If you really know me you would know that I will continue playing football at the University of……………………AUBURN!!!! #WDE,” Russell Tweeted.
Russell is a 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle out of Carrollton (Ga.), and decommitted from Georgia shortly after witnessing the Iron Bowl at Auburn. He was star-struck by the game and atmosphere and his quotes following that game showed that it may have been the turning moment in his recruiting.

Russell is the third blue-chipper this month to join Auburn’s class after previously being with one of Auburn’s rivals. Russell was previously with Georgia, DB Kalvaraz Bessent was once with Alabama, and DE DaVonte Lambert was once with Tennessee.
