In terms of recruiting, June was a fine month for Auburn. It kicked things off with the Big Cat Weekend, made a huge impression on the No. 1 quarterback left out there (5-star Torrance Gibson) and the Tigers edged out Alabama for two very good prospects.
Tyler Carr, a four-star lineman, and Jalen Harris, a three-star tight end, were the two recent additions. Both came aboard last week. The result? Even with other schools landing 7, 8 or 9 more commitments in the month of June, Auburn still held firm with a top five national recruiting ranking. There are now 17 commitments on board with Auburn–who is behind only Alabama and Texas A&M in the SEC.
Carr is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound prospect out of Gadsden (Ala.) who has a reputation around the southeast of being a very strong run blocker. He’s rated the No. 225 overall prospect in America—and he had options. Harris, a 6-foot-5, 245-pounder out of the St. James School in Montgomery (Ala.), at one point said Alabama was a dream offer for him.
Both in-staters are stoked.
“I’m from Alabama and we never really had professional ball to get excited about, you only grew up watching college football,” Carr told Saturday Down South in a recent interview. “If you make it to the college level it’s just like making it to the pros for other people. No one really cares much about the (Atlanta) Falcons around here. I mean, that’s just the way it is. It’s Auburn and it’s Alabama.”
