Auburn Tigers National Signing Day Recap

 Auburn Tigers

      • SEC TEAM RANK: No. 4
      • NATIONAL TEAM RANK: No. 6
      • LAST YEAR’S FINISH: No. 7 (SEC); No. 13 (nation).
      • NO. 1 CURRENT RECRUIT: RB Racean Thomas (No. 23 nationally).
      • SDS 3-STAR ‘SLEEPER’ STAR: TE Chris Laye is a huge target. He’s a great kid, and … he won the SDS recruit picks contest last fall. That has to count for something! OL Xavier Dampeer is another diamond in the rough who loves his new school and the opportunity it brings.
      • SUM THE DAY UP: Auburn fans probably have a love hate affair with national signing day. On one hand the Tigers added two nice four-star recruits in Andrew Williams and Braden Smith, but lost the hometown five-star LB in a shocking move when Rashaan Evans chose Alabama—probably the biggest surprise of the day.
      • OVERALL: Hey, not getting Evans hasn’t damaged the national runner-up’s class. This is still a group that is firmly within the nation’s top 10—a much better showing than last year. QB Sean White is a keeper, and hey … Auburn snatched a few prime Alabama targets this year too, so they got their shots in. Overall, nice effort.

  • That’s some big mamma jammas we got. Truitt (former QB) and Roc are the only guys under 6′. Loving the DB height, especially on safety with Boston. I think our pass defense improved exponentially and our rushing off the edge and inside is even better. WAR DAMN EAGLE! Wishing Evans the best.

    • True Jason, nothing wrong with this group at all. As Steve Spurrier once said at one of our press conferences for signing day years ago “we won’t have to cancel football in 4 years with this group”.
