On Monday, national runner up Auburn added its third commitment for 2015–and its second from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Tony Bridges is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound cornerback out of the junior college ranks, and originally from Hattiesburg (Miss.). He joins JUCO teammate Jason Smith and four-star prep QB commitment Tyler Queen as the three on board so far, with many more to come. Bridges also reported scholarship offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State. When he was in high school, he took unofficial visits to Auburn, so he was already quite familiar with the program. He plans to be an early enrollment candidate next January.
“They like my height and I am a great ball player, and they were watching me for a while,” Bridges told Saturday Down South on Monday, when asked what Auburn’s staff say they love about his game.
Along with Smith, he also played JUCO football with Auburn signees D’haquille Williams and Derrick Moncrief last fall–creating quite a pipeline from the JUCO to Auburn. Bridges put up 28 tackles and averaged 29.7 yards per kickoff return last fall for MGCCC.
