Bama moves from 3rd to 1st in nation with Friday’s Petitbon commitment

Texas A&M had held the No. 1 spot in the recruiting team rankings for many weeks, and a rash of top-notch pickups in the past two weeks had bumped Penn State up to the No. 2 spot behind the Aggies and ahead of the Crimson Tide.

But the 365-day race for the national recruiting title saw a change at the top around 6 p.m. on Friday when top 100 national prospect Richie Petitbon III committed to the Crimson Tide. They immediately bumped up to No. 1.

Alabama has won every mythical national recruiting title since the 2010 season, when Florida won it.
