Many times the daily news of college football can have an instant impact on recruiting.
Recently, Alabama lost Dee Hart and Alvin Kamara–two highly regarded running backs coming out of high school–to off-the-field issues. Both had multiple years left on the roster, so their depth must be replaced, and there’s no better time to start doing the replacing than now.
Scout.com did an outstanding article on this very point, and the most interesting offer went out to junior college RB Jovon Robinson, who actually signed with Auburn previously. Robinson has come out publicly and said he would like to play against his former team. Apparently a guidance counselor helped clear up some grade issues for Robinson, possibly influenced by Auburn assistant coaches Curtis Looper and Trooper Taylor–who were suspended during that probe. Robinson’s career never really got rolling.
So as a freshman at Georgia Military College this past fall, he blew the lid off the JUCO record books by rushing for 2,387 yards and 34 touchdowns. He will be an instant impact contributor in 2015, wherever he chooses to play football. Keep an eye on this kid though–Alabama may be the ultimate destination.
He other class of 2015 RBs to get offers from Alabama are former Michigan commit Damien Harris, Ronald Jones and Eric Swinney–all obviously high end prep targets in this class.
