By 4 p.m. eastern time on National Signing Day, the Lorenzo Carter derby will officially have come to an end.
The prized five-star defensive end, one of the five top remaining prospects in America, is taking an official visit to Florida State this weekend and Georgia the next. He trekked to LSU this past weekend and traveled to Florida in the fall. Alabama is also considered to be one of his top finalists, but it’s looking more and more like Georgia is the team to beat. He has been tough to read for months though, so don’t be surprised by anything.
Carter will announce his decision in the 3 p.m. hour on Feb. 5, national signing day at his high school, Norcross. Of course, the television networks haven’t squared away their national signing day coverage, so don’t be surprised if that schedule gets tweaked a little bit, closer to the decision day.
Carter had 24 sacks the past two seasons. He is listed as the No. 2 weakside defensive end in the nation by the 247Sports.com composite ranking.
