ESPN300 update is in: 44% of nation’s elite already heading to SEC

NCAA Football: Under Armour-All America Football

The ESPN300 released its most recent recruiting rankings update this week, and the numbers are overwhelming.

Of the 157 players already committed in the ESPN300, 69 of them are heading to the SEC. That’s 44 percent for those keeping track at home. Of the 143 percent not committed, one can count on a good chunk of those eventually ending up with SEC schools, too.

Leading the way, not surprisingly, is Alabama. The Crimson Tide have 16 of their 19 recruits inside the ESPN300. In fact, you sort of have to feel bad for the three guys from ‘Bama’s class that didn’t make the ESPN300. What did they do wrong? Anfernee Jennings, Montrell Curtis and Keaton Anderson–the three left off–must be scratching their heads.

At any rate, the ESPN300 is SEC dominated. Below is a look at all 14 SEC schools–which by the way are all represented in the ranking, the only conference like that–and how many they had on the list, as well as their top player.
