Miami RB product Dalvin Cook had been rumored as a possible decommitment for months, and on New Year’s Eve, he made it official–he is no longer committed to the Gators, he wants to play for Florida State.
Cook’s high school teammate, Miami Central junior WR Da’Vante Phillips, quietly decommitted from the Gators on Christmas Eve, too. Cook, a five-star prospect and Florida’s No. 1-rated prospect until today, had been a Gators commitment since April. He was supposed to announce his decision during the live telecast of the Under Armour Game, but news slipped out.
Cook made a simple statement:
“I will spend my next three to four years at the University of Florida State,” Cook told his hometown paper, The Miami Herald, obviously messing up the school name a slight bit.
