Five-star DT Tuttle has Tennessee in his final five

Shy Tuttle has been thought to be ACC bound for some time, but then Tennessee made the cut to be in his final five this week. He’s been in Knoxville several times since last fall and plans another trip this summer.

It looks like the Vols have a chance to land the five-star defensive tackle out of the Charlotte (N.C.) area. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound lineman is known for his explosive and energetic style of play, and he is rated the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of North Carolina. Along with that, he’s rated No. 29 overall in America.

“The games and the atmosphere are crazy there,” Tuttle told Scout.com, when asked about Tennessee. “I also like their coaches.”

Tuttle said he has no timetable for his decision, he just wants to check out more schools. The other four finalists are Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State and Miami.

  • I think we have a great shot w/ Tuttle. I think he wants to play w/ Khalil. That would be one scary defensive line. Throw in some of our 2014 D-linemen that we signed and we will be scary up front.
