Former Vandy QB commit chooses his school

NEW: Follow on facebook -

This decision probably hurts more than any other for Vanderbilt.

While the Commodores have lost 12 commitments since coach James Franklin headed to Penn State, the gem of the group was QB K.J. Carta-Samuels. The California product was clearly the most important of Franklin’s recruits and had been on board with Vandy for more than a year. When the coaching switch happened, he said there was at least an outside chance he may stay with Vandy–but he was definitely going to look around.

Well, on Wednesday he made it official–he won’t be joining his brother as a QB at Vanderbilt (Austyn Carta-Samuels is one of the Commodores’ QBs). K.J. will be heading to the University of Washington with new coach Chris Peterson.

Doesn’t make much sense. UW already had three young Elite-11 QBs. Playing time’s gonna be hard to come by.

But why would he want to stay with a sinking ship. Mason will probably do well but he won’t replicate what Franklin did.
