A couple of weeks ago, we here at Saturday Down South asked Marcus Lewis what it would be like if he decided to play in the SEC.
After giving a quote about how he respected the conference, the Washington (D.C.) area native then told me I could move his “Florida percentage” up on the Crystal Ball at 247Sports.com.
“I like Florida ALOT,” is how he texted it back to me.
Lewis is a four-star defensive back who played at Gonzaga H.S. last fall. This year, he’ll be at the IMG Academy in Bradenton (Fla.), which seemed like another hint that he might be leaning toward the Gators. On Thursday, he made the pledge official and will join another Washington (D.C.) native on the Gators roster next year. Lewis is very close to five-star DB signee Jalen Tabor. Former Gator DB and current NFL player Joe Haden is also from that area. He is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete and is ranked the No. 116 overall prospect in the nation.
“In the SEC, they play fast and physical,” Lewis Texted to SDS. “Most definitely (he’d consider playing in the SEC), but I’m not saying I wouldn’t play in another conference.”
Florida now has six commitments on board and is rated the No. 25 program in the nation.
