You could kind of see this one coming for awhile.
South Carolina offered Michael Bowman a scholarship back in August of 2012, and all of his actions since then made one think there was only one destination for him–Columbia (S.C.). He camped there, he visited campus several times, you name it, the Gamecocks were all over it.
So on Thursday morning when he became South Carolina’s fourth commitment for 2015, it really wasn’t that surprising. The 6-foot-0, 195-pound wide receiver also had an offer from Tennessee–who signed his prep teammate Derrell Scott last month. They both hail from Havelock High School in North Carolina. N.C. State was also considered a contender to get him.
Bowman, who is considered a high-end three-star prospect, caught 52 passes for 972 yards and 11 TDs as a junior.
“The coaches,” Bowman told The Spartanburg Herald-Journal after his announcement Thursday. “They made me feel like it’s home. It’s easy to make the decision because I’ve been there a lot and keeping in touch with coaches.”
Bowman’s younger brother, Kyran Bowman, decided to pledge to North Carolina. He is a football/basketball standout.
