One of the nation’s top cornerbacks is set to announce his final college decision–and it’s looking good for South Carolina fans.
D.J. Smith, a hard-hitting 6-foot-1, 190-pound DB from Marietta (Ga.), has announced that Clemson is now out of the running and it’s down to the Gamecocks and Tennessee. The decision will come Monday night at 10 p.m. EST on Fox Sports South program The New College Football Show. Right now, he’s scheduled to take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend, and he had an in-home visit from Gamecocks’ assistant G.A. Mangus in December, while also taking several unofficial visits during 2013. With Tennessee nearly full as far as its 2014 signing class is concerned, it appears South Carolina is in the drivers’ seat to pick up Smith.
Smith is rated the No. 129 overall prospect in the nation, and the No. 12 cornerback. He is good sized, and comes from a highly competitive area of the country, as far as high school football is concerned.
