The Gators have five solid athletes on board as part of the class of 2015, but fans may look at their rankings (below) and wonder why they’re all of the three-star variety and none of them is a national top 500 player.
Don’t worry, Gator fans. The big news for the Gators is not what they have on board already, but what will be coming in the future. Five-star studs like DE CeCe Jefferson, OL Martez Ivey, LB Jeffery Holland, DE Byron Cowart and WR George Campbell are near locks to end up with Florida. All five are ranked within the top 35 overall in the nation. That quintet would be a monster combination for any program, and would thrust Florida deep into the top 10 of the national rankings, and likely the top five.
“I like the fact that it’s close to home, and they do show me a bunch of love when I go there,” Jefferson told Saturday Down South. “Coach (Brad) Lawing is a big part of it. I’ve seen quotes from Clowney about how he has given Coach Lawing so much credit. If he can do those things with Clowney, I figure why not me? There are multiple reasons I love Gainesville, but those are the most important to me.
