Georgia RB tandem, SEC top QBs at Army Game today

Today’s U.S. Army Game has 30 current SEC commits, several other top targets who will choose SEC schools today–and 11 of the SEC’s 14 schools are represented. Want to see future Heisman winners and all-SEC performers? Here’s how you can tune in:

RELATED: As many as six recruits at Army Game may pick SEC schools today on live TV

  • WHAT: U.S. Army All-American Bowl
  • WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 4—1 p.m. EST
  • WHERE: San Antonio, Texas–Alamodome
  • PAST NOTABLES: Adrian Peterson, Tim Tebow, Andrew Luck, Teddy Bridgewater, Percy Harvin, Ndamukong Suh.
  • SEC COMMITS AT GAME: 30 so far, but another six or so may choose SEC schools today, with several others picking later.
  • TOP SEC COMMITS/TARGETS (with nat. rank.): No. 15 QB Kyle Allen (Texas A&M commit); No. 19 RB Sony Michel (Georgia commit); No. 28 LB Clifton Garrett (LSU commit); No. 31 QB Will Grier (Florida commit); No. 39 RB Nick Chubb (Georgia commit); No. 42 DB Edward Paris (LSU commit).
  • BULLDOGS LEADERS?: The Under Armour Game tends to attract a lot of SEC talent, because it’s a bit closer to home in Florida … but Georgia is well-represented in the Army game with an SEC-best six players, and there’s a chance it could pick up another one if Elisha Shaw chooses the Bulldogs today.
  • QUARTERBACKS: While the Under Armour Game had more SEC recruiting talent coming in than the Army Game has, the top quarterback talent is definitely at the Army Game. Texas A&M commit Kyle Allen is the top-rated pro-style QB in the nation, and Florida commit Will Grier already has Gator fans calling his name, and he hasn’t even stepped on campus. Georgia’s Jacob Park and Kentucky’s Drew Barker are also big-time prospects–Barker being one of the big reasons the Wildcats have their best recruiting class in years.
  • TOP PLAYER TO WATCH: We’re going to go with the two-headed monster backfield combo for Georgia—Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Granted, running backs don’t always do well in these all-star games because the O-lines haven’t had time to jell and the defenses are brutal, but let’s see if one of these busts loose. And if there’s a second-place spot to the Georgia RB tandem, it would be Florida’s QB Grier—Gator fans will be tuned in to see what happens, no doubt.
  • THE SKINNY: In years past, the U.S. Army Game has had more of the nation’s top talent than the Under Armour Game, but this year it’s a tad bit behind its Florida counterpart. Regardless, it still has a boatload of SEC talent—nearly three dozen players or potential commits—and it’ll be especially fun to watch the defenses, as these games tend to have a lot of sacks, interceptions and long returns for touchdowns. We’ll see if one of the skill players on defense—like Auburn’s Nick Ruffin, or LSU’s Ed Paris or Ole Miss’ C.J. Hampton—is able to make a big play.

NOTE: All recruiting rankings mentioned refer to the composite rankings.
