Georgia Bulldogs National Signing Day Recap

Steve Dykes/USA Today

Georgia Bulldogs

      • SEC TEAM RANK: No. 6
      • LAST YEAR’S FINISH: No. 6 (SEC); No. 11 (nation).
      • NO. 1 CURRENT RECRUIT: DE Lorenzo Carter (No. 18 in nation).
      • SDS ‘SLEEPER’ STAR: DB Shattle Fenteng is a good-sized cornerback who is already mature enough to handle a starting position, if needed. TE Jeb Blazevich is another gem, a great kid with a lot of potential.
      • SUM THE DAY UP: It was an outstanding day, for one primary reason—Georgia as a state is a huge hotbed, and all of the other SEC powers lick their chops and try to steal talent away from the Bulldogs. On Wednesday, Georgia protected its borders and kept five-star DE Lorenzo Carter home. That is a huge statement for the program. Also, plucking speedy south Florida WR Isaiah McKenzie away from Florida and many others–nice.
      • OVERALL: Nobody in the country can touch what the Bulldogs have coming in at running back in Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. Can you say Gurley-Marshall Jr.? That, plus the Carter news, is huge. It is always nice to have three five-star prospects. Along with that, needs have been addressed. This is another top 10 class, now all they have to do is coach them up.

Editor’s note: All team and individual ratings referenced by Saturday Down South are according to’s composite ranking, which averages all services. Team rankings are as of 5 p.m. Wednesday.

  • To quote Steve Spurrier ” I don’t know what UGA does with all those 5-star players once they get on campus…..”. I think UGA addressed some needs and kept 3 of the top 6 players in-state. Hopefully these guys keep their heads on straight and avoid the issues some of the other Dawgs have demonstrated lately. Great class and great day to be a Dawg!!!
