This is the time of year where surprises pop up, left and right.
For Russell Gage, it wasn’t long ago that the Baton Rouge Redemptorist product wasn’t even sure if he’d have the opportunity to play at LSU. But following his official visit to the campus last weekend and certainly recruiting dominoes falling the right way, Gage is now on board with the Tigers and is the team’s 19th commitment for next week’s national signing day. Gage is a three-star prospect and listed as an “athlete” by most services. Gage could end up at cornerback, but is versatile and has seen time as a receiver too.
Gage had been courted heavily by Tulane, too, but the uncertainty with the LSU situation is what kept things up in the air. He is from the same talent pipeline at Redemptorist that produced offensive lineman La’El Collins and running back Jeremy Hill.
