LSU tied for nation’s lead in five-star commitments, ranked No. 5 overall

You have to admit, LSU’s in a good situation. Things have been relatively quiet for the Tigers for a few months now, yet this program is still perched within the top five in the nation’s recruiting rankings.

All four of the schools ranked ahead of LSU (Bama, Penn State, Auburn and Clemson) have several more commitments than LSU. Three of them have at least five more.

The Tigers have also been five-star hogs.

No school in the country has more five-star commitments than LSU. Kevin Toliver and Maea Teuhema are both of the five-star ilk and on board. Only Southern Cal can tie the Tigers, as the Trojans also have two. And LSU stands is good shape to land in-state wide receiver Tyron Johnson, the No. 1 player in Louisiana and another five-star prospect. DB Tarvarus McFadden is another five-star prospect the Tigers could conceivably land. And Damarkus Lodge and Terry Beckner are probably longshots to come to LSU, but both are possibilities–and both are five-star prospects.

And the Tigers love their newest commitment Jevonte Domond, who came aboard two weeks ago (read here).

“Now I’m going to get to go against the best every Saturday,” Domond told Saturday Down South. “It’s like living a dream still. I’m just excited for the opportunity to come in and compete for a spot.”
