Mason lands his first commitment at Vanderbilt

After being dropped by 12 recruits in a matter of days, Vanderbilt has taken its first step in the right direction, recruiting wise.

New head coach Derek Mason picked up a pledge from three star wide receiver Rashad Canty out of Georgia. He is a 6-foot-4 pass target and previously had been committed to Appalachian State, but in recent weeks interest had ramped up from Minnesota, Wake Forest and on Monday–Vanderbilt. He will take an official visit to the campus this weekend, and had just returned from Minnesota last weekend.

Welcome to the craziness of January’s domino effect recruiting.

Vanderbilt is now up to nine commitments for the 2014 class, and expect that to grow quickly within the next two weeks.
