Mississippi State way ahead for class of 2015, lands another

Who said only the seniors matter?

Mississippi State is definitely a step up on the competition when it comes to its 2015 signing class. This week, the Bulldogs added two more members of the class, and they also have class members committed for 2016 and even one for 2017. They now have six class members for 2015, with five of them coming in the past month–giving them a super-early top 10 national class for 2015.

The new addition for Mississippi State was 6-foot-3, 220-pound safety Darrien McNair out of Florida powerhouse Trinity Catholic in Ocala. He doesn’t have any ratings yet, probably because he’s a bit under the radar. The Bulldogs have added five of their six commitments for 2015 in just the past month, and they have commitments for 2016 and even one for 2017. Apparently coach Dan Mullen believes in working ahead.

Also in the past week, they landed all-around athlete Cameron Myers out of Hattiesburg.

Editor’s note: Saturday Down South’s references to ratings always follow the composite rankings.

I just watched a highlight video of Darrien from this year. This kid is big and fast. ESPN has his 40 at 4.7, but I think he’s a little faster. As soon as the ball is passed, he’s is right on the receiver. He played at the line of scrimmage a lot too, which makes me happy because I love safeties who can stop the run too. He wraps up his tackles, and he was also used as a RB once. He was pretty hard to take down too, probably because he’s 6’3″ and 220lbs. I like this pick-up very much.
