It’s really not that surprising that Torrance Gibson told numerous media outlets that a trio of SEC schools have pushed past schools like Ohio State and Miami as his co-favorites.
He hasn’t been to see Ohio State yet, and Tennessee, Auburn and LSU all made huge impressions on him in the past week when he did his whirlwind tour of the south. Tennessee needs a quarterback–badly. Auburn is coming off a national runner-up season playing in an offense that Gibson would fit perfectly. And LSU has former NFL playcaller Cam Cameron as offensive coordinator, which is a huge plus for the Tigers, Gibson told Saturday Down South recently. On May 5, he let it be known, he will release an official top 10.
So Gibson returned home and praised all three–and depending on who he was talking to, one could read into it that he slightly favors each one. Close-to-home Miami has drifted backwards in Gibson’s list of favorites, as a result. Ohio State now desperately needs to get Gibson on campus if the Buckeyes want to stay in the game.
Right now, the aforementioned SEC trio (and he also visited Florida over the weekend) seems to be the trio to beat. That can all change when he treks to Ohio State in the coming weeks, but he also said he still plans to go to LSU and Tennessee to see their spring games.
Maybe a hint of things to come? Certainly could be.
