Four-star SEC target’s jersey for sale on Ebay

Matt Elam is one of the SEC’s top remaining targets. Maybe that’s why his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey is starting at $300 on Ebay.

According to the sale pitch on Ebay, Elam gave his jersey away to the seller and he might be completely unaware that his No. 69 jersey is up for auction. Elam is expected to announce his college decision on national signing day, and he is Kentucky’s biggest remaining target–with Alabama trying to wrestling him away. Elam is rated the No. 166 overall prospect in the country. He is a 6-foot-5, 370-pound defensive tackle.

He is scheduled to visit Alabama this weekend, but doesn’t have a visit set up for the two following weekends before signing day.

For the record, athletes are given apparel and various other gifts at the high-end postseason all-american games, so the jersey is Elams’ to do with as he pleases. As it has no affiliation with any particular college program, this is completely legal within NCAA rules and regs.

Update: Elam removed the listing, but here are screen shots:

Here’s the sales pitch on Ebay: Winner of the the Paul Hornung Award as the State’s # 1 player, Matt Elam just played in the 2014 Army All-American Game and is a phenom to say the least: he’s ranked 7th OVERALL in the Nation (not his position but overall), he’s 6’6, weighs 350 and runs a 4.9 40 (that’s moving folks, for a man his size!).  Matt hasn’t decided where he is going to college in the fall but you can guess many recruiters like UK, Alabama and Notre Dame have been on edge.  I obtained this jersey and pants from Matt as a gift and only his used practice jersey pictured are part of this auction and NOT the 2 jerseys and yellow undershirt above his practice jersey that are pictured in photo # 4.  The other jerseys pictured in photo #4 are not a part of this auction but only meant to compliment the practice jersey.  Matt’s a great person, humble and I know he will make a bigtime impact at the next level; he was probably the biggest guy on either the East or West squad at the Army All American Game.   Shipped via Priority Mail box with signature delivery confirmation for $11.00; express is $55 with insurance.  THIS IS ONE OF THOSE RARE CHANCES TO GET SOMETHING SPECIAL OF ONE OF KENTUCKY’S GREATEST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYERS.  Thanks for looking and check out my other eBay items if you get the chance……   INCLUDED VIDEOS BELOW OF MATT AND HIS TEAM:”

  • This kid is a beast. He makes it look so unfair when he bullrushes and runs right over linemen. Of course with him being so huge he isn’t the fastest but he can move for someone of his size. I think Alabama has a good chance of landing him. This kis lit up like a Christmas tree when talking about going to Alabama and starting right away (which he definitely would).

    • I hope you’re right. One of Bama’s defensive strengths has bee that huge guy in the middle. Mt. Cody, Chapman & Jesse Williams were the guys. Ivory takes up a lot of space but he doesn’t have their strength. I’d love for Elam to Roll With The Tide. Saban and company would turn him into a first rounder….
